I'm Like A Bird
In many ways this is true. I'm like a bird. However unlike the song from Nelly Furtado, I do know where my home is. I also know where my soul is. Consider me a 'grounded bird' but in the best way. I am a wanderer, a gatherer, and a free spirit. I love to travel around places I don't live, yet I also like to stay in my nest. Today is a nest day. Actually, this week has been a nest day. I am dealing with the flu (Sid note: Also very 'bird' of me) so I have found comfort in being home under my covers. I wanted to share with you something David and I did recently in Malibu: BIRDING!
What is birding you ask? Well, it is a term we kinda made up, but basically it is going to a spot where there are scooters and riding them around town! 'Bird' is the brand of the electronic scooter, so we call it 'birding'.
It's as simple as 1,2, &3!
First, you must download the app. Once you have that, open it and click 'find a bird'. This will show you the closest bird scooter around your area! We have found the best chance of finding a gaggle of bird scooters (get it?) is near the beach! Luckily, we live about 30 minutes away from Malibu! We have also noticed they are parked by a lot of work buildings for hip business folk to use to get to their cars often times parked miles away from their building. What did we ever do before birds?
Next, Scan Your Bird.
After you pick the bird you want to ride, simply scan your bird with your app to unlock it. First time riders will need to scan their drivers license because you have to be over 18 to ride.
Make sure you stay in an area where electronic scooters are allowed and stay alert. These things can get up to 15 miles per hour and you really feel the speed.
Last, Bring a Photagrapher.
Okay, this is optional. I just so happen to find bird pictures to be so fun! I'm lucky to be marrying a photographer so it was easy for me.
What's your favorite thing to do at the beach?
